Narrowboat Balmaha - woodwork and paint

by jakepithf @ 2005-08-17 - 22:22:11

Well here it is, news at last after three whole weeks.

Interior
First layer of wall lining applied to cover sprayfoam insulation.
Ceiling insulation will be covered by tongued and grooved strips of ash.
No portholes cut yet but bulkheads positioned to show compartment sizes (looks so much smaller than the drawing, how will we get everything in?
View taken from galley looking aft to rear doorway.

Interior

Gloss Paint
Not easy to get the whole 60 foot boat in the viewfinder especially with tressle tables, piles of timber, dust sheets and tools surrounding the boat.
In its final shade of green it has been taped for the double pinstripe panel borders in “pretend gold”
Gloss paint

Stern view - looking forward beneath the handrail (tiller not yet fitted).
Stern doors open and steel lockers either side (coal + wood?, champagne + caviar?)
Cutting the stern decking to match the supports and drainage channels.
May just see the saloon with low level bulkhead at the galley intersection.
Side doors on left will be alongside the dinette.

Stern platform

Engine compartment - showing engine bearers and pipe ends to carry hot water to the calorifier.

Next Time - hope to show an engine.
